ATLANTA (April 20, 2016) During the last 10 years, the International Production and Processing Expo (IPPE) has had an economic impact of $562 million on the State of Georgia. On Tuesday, April 26, U.S. Poultry and Egg Association Chairman, Paul Hill and President, John Starkey, along with other members of the organization who spearhead IPPE, were presented the Governor’s Commendation in recognition of their contributions to the state. Lee Hunter, Chairman of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority Board of Governors and Mark Zimmerman, Georgia World Congress Center General Manager, presented the honor. The estimated economic impact for the 2016 show is $61 million, with 37,000 hotel rooms booked and an estimated $1.6 million in states sales tax collected.

SISTER ACT VON GREY READY TO ROCK BREW ON THE BRICKS WITH EDGY NEW SOUNDS
ATLANTA – (August 25, 2015) The four sisters of Atlanta-based indie folk/pop/rock band von Grey have been a self-contained performing unit for most of their young lives, originally as a classical string and piano quartet playing at recitals, weddings and other formal settings. Each sibling started classical training when she turned five-years-old with lessons twice a week, but the lure of pop music came a-calling, and the sisters began to expand beyond violin, viola, cello and piano. They learned rock, Top 40, country and folk instruments, branching out on guitar, mandolin, banjo, percussion and electronic keyboards, playing songs by the likes of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Tracy Chapman.

Centennial Olympic Park to permanently close Andrew Young International Boulevard through the park on February 9th, 2015
Atlanta – (February 2, 2015) In 2013, the Georgia World Congress Center Authority(“GWCCA”), who has operational responsibility for Centennial Olympic Park, commissioned the original architects of the Park, AECOM, to help with a visioning project intended to improve the Park in recognition of its’ 20th anniversary. AECOM identified several transformative initiatives that would significantly enhance the visitor experience. The first initiative involved closing Andrew Young International Boulevard (“International Boulevard”), through the Park from Centennial Olympic Park Drive to Marietta Street. By closing the road, the Park will become much safer for pedestrians and visitors to the Park, as well as honor the architects’ original design for the thoroughfare as a plaza connecting the Fountain of Rings to the northern part of the Park.
Georgia World Congress Center Becomes World’s Largest LEED Certified Convention Center
Atlanta – (October 28, 2014) The Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) was recently awarded LEED Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a rating system for the design, operation and maintenance of green buildings. The GWCC is now the world’s largest LEED certified convention center. With 3.9 million square feet, the GWCC is also the 14th largest LEED certified building in the world.

SAVANNAH– (February 12, 2014) The Georgia International Maritime and Trade Center Authority (GIMTCA) today approved the selection of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) to manage the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center (SITCC). The GWCCA will be responsible for the management and operation of the SITCC, as well as working collaboratively with the "Visit Savannah" team in marketing the convention center as a premier business destination. The two authorities will now begin the process of negotiating the details of the multi-year agreement.
