The Georgia World Congress Center hosts some of the largest, most significant trade shows each year. Show managers are attracted to several aspects of the GWCC, making it stand out from other competing facilities. For one thing, it is one of the largest convention centers in the country – boasting 1.4 million square feet of prime exhibit space. That’s how much space was used at the International Woodworking Fair in 2002. The largest trade show of its kind in the Western Hemisphere, IWF utilized all of the Congress Center’s 12 exhibit halls, which are conveniently linked together by connector concourses on the show floor. IWF brings in massive machinery that requires extensive electric capabilities and the Congress Center was able to rise to the occasion. To this day, the IWF 2002 event was the largest event (based on net square footage) held at the Georgia World Congress Center.

Where do you hold the largest wireless event in the world? You hold it at the state-of-the-art Georgia World Congress Center - the perfect setting for CTIA WIRELESS 2004, billed as the most significant technology event in America. An estimated 30,000 attendees from more than 80 countries around the world attended the three-day convention, which served every aspect of the wireless industry - providers, users, developers, buyers and manufacturers. CTIA WIRELESS 2004 gave the Georgia World Congress Center a chance to showcase why we are the premier high-tech convention center. Our state-of-the-art infrastructure allows us to exceed the needs of telecommunications events like WIRELESS. From wireless, high-speed Internet to fiber-optic cabling and extensive teleconferencing options, the GWCC masters it all.

Another benefit of the Georgia World Congress Center is its unique campus. Unlike many convention centers, the GWCC shares a campus with two Atlanta landmarks: the Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Park. Together, the three facilities comprise one of the world’s largest convention, sports and entertainment complexes. But what does this mean for trade shows? Home to the Atlanta Falcons and numerous other sporting/entertainment events, the Georgia Dome is an excellent site for concerts, receptions and even exhibits. The outstanding design of the Dome provides some of the best sightlines available. As for Centennial Olympic Park, not only does it serve as a welcome mat for conventioneers traveling from downtown hotels, it also provides an outdoor alternative for meetings and receptions. The beautiful 21-acre park, a lasting legacy to the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games, features gardens, fountains and monuments. With these unique venues, you could wow your attendees with events at all three sites.

The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) did just that back in 2002. IAAPA is a non-profit organization with a membership consisting of fixed-site facilities and suppliers. The association is dedicated to the preservation and prosperity of the amusement industry worldwide. When looking for a unique place to hold the 2002 IAAPA convention and related activities, they looked no further than the Georgia World Congress Center campus. From a full exhibit floor in the Congress Center and Georgia Dome to a carnival bash at Centennial Olympic Park, the IAAPA event utilized all facilities to the fullest. They even managed to fit a full-size ferris wheel in the Dome! Everyone left Atlanta with something to talk about for weeks to come.
