A New Logo to Accompany Bowl's New Name

The Chick-fil-A Bowl recently unveiled its new logo during a ceremony on the West Plaza of the Georgia Dome. Representatives from the Chick-fil-A Bowl, Chick-fil-A, Atlanta Sports Council and the Georgia Dome were present to see the new logo, which was revealed ceremoniously on a 1,000-square-foot banner. Chick-fil-A Bowl Co-Chairman Leeman Bennett, Atlanta Sports Council President Gary Stokan and Chick-fil-A Vice President Bubba Cathy cut the ribbon to reveal the banner.

The logo gives the Bowl a whole new look with a blue, silver, red and white color scheme. It also indicates three important aspects of the event: the sport, the city and the competitors. This year will mark the 39th annual playing of Atlanta's bowl game and the 15th in which rivals from the ACC and SEC have been matched. The game has been played at the Georgia Dome since 1992 and has been matching the ACC and SEC in post-season play since then as well—the longest continuous conference match-up in the nation.

"Our desire is to position the Chick-fil-A Bowl as a premiere event within the landscape of college bowl games...delivering a premier experience for the teams, their fans and viewers," said Steve Robinson, Chick-fil-A's senior vice president of marketing. "This commitment allows us to further emphasize our valued association with the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Southeastern Conference. The new Bowl logo clearly communicates the guaranteed match-up of these two great conferences."

The new title sponsorship agreement of the Chick-fil-A Bowl has allowed the Bowl to secure a higher team selection from the ACC. Beginning with this year's game, the Chick-fil-A Bowl will have the first selection from the ACC after the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) makes its selection. This will likely provide a top-10 team to match against a highly ranked team from the SEC. Atlanta's bowl has sold out 10 straight games and holds the highest average attendance of all non-BCS games in the last 10 years.

Tickets for this year's Chick-fil-A Bowl are available by calling the Bowl ticket office at 404-586-TIXX (8499) or online at www.chick-fil-abowl.com.
