New
in the Park for 2006 Season |
Centennial
Olympic Park recently launched its new website,
www.centennialpark.com,
designed to give visitors a Park experience
while online complete with beauty shots and
information about upcoming events. "Our
new Web site is more informative, more attractive,
and easier to use. It's got everything you
need to have before a Park visit, besides
the sunscreen," said Mark Banta, the
general manager of Centennial Olympic Park.
From neighbors who use the Park as a place
to relax, tourists who come to see the most
photographed fountain in the United States,
or clients who use the Park as a gathering
space, the new website is designed to suit
the needs of its diverse users. Interactive
maps now show where events take place within
the Park, and the resource areas of the site
have been enhanced significantly. The variety
of events the Park hosts, including the weekly
concert series "Wednesday WindDown"
and "Music @ Noon" schedules are
prominently featured.
Along with the new website, the Park is also
proud to be the location of new events this
year. Star 94 recently hosted Movie Under
the Stars, an outdoor movie screening of "March
of the Penguins" on North Lawn. Viewers
came out with picnics, friends and family
to watch the film and enjoy the evening.
Coming up on May 20 and 21 is the Southern
Comfort Music Experience (SCMX), a free music
festival featuring bands such as The Flaming
Lips, Cowboy Mouth, Ozomatli, De La Soul,
Big Star and Family Force 5. The event is
21 and over and will be from noon-11 p.m.
on Saturday and noon-10 p.m. on Sunday in
North Park. SCMX will be traveling the country
this summer and it is kicking off the festival
in Centennial Olympic Park! For more information
visit the newly improved www.centennialpark.com.
