NCAA Men’s Final Four a Huge Success


(Atlanta – April 18, 2007) The 2007 NCAA Men’s Final Four was an incredible success. Thousands of fans descended upon Atlanta and the GWCCA campus to enjoy four days full of activities, entertainment and exciting basketball action.

Hoop City, the interactive fan zone, gave fans of all ages an opportunity to make shots on the replica court, participate in basketball competitions, get autographs from past NCAA players and visit with Mayor Shirley Franklin when she paid a visit.

Over the course of the weekend, Atlanta opened its doors to make events like the YES Clinics at Georgia Tech, Georgia State and Morehouse Colleges, the Dome Dribble to Hoop City and the NCAA Road to the Final Four 5K huge successes. Local businesses and retailers made sure that our out of town guests felt like old friends coming here for a visit.

The Big Dance at Centennial Olympic Park was the epicenter of Final Four activity. It provided the perfect setting for visitors to spend the day in the heart of downtown while enjoying the fabulous musical acts, special guest appearances and the springtime beauty of the Park. The Park also hosted the World’s Largest Pep Rally, a Habitat for Humanity build and a breathtaking fireworks display.

Action started in the Dome as folks gathered to watch the four participating teams at open practice on Friday. The National Semifinal games were Saturday, March 31 and all the fever surrounding March Madness culminated at the National Championship game on Monday, April 2. The crowd went wild as the Florida Gators walked away with their second consecutive Final Four victory.

The 2007 NCAA Men’s Final Four was a truly remarkable event and will indeed be remembered by the fans, the city, the GWCCA campus and the NCAA staff for years to come.
