Georgia World Congress Center Unveils Third Bethune Elementary Art Gallery

ATLANTA (June 7, 2007) –The Georgia World Congress Center unveiled the third installment of the Bethune Art Gallery, located in the downtown convention center. Thirty-two framed pieces, the talented work of Bethune Elementary School students, were revealed on May 23 at the Georgia World Congress Center.

The gallery is located between GWCC Administration and Building C and is part of the long-term art partnership between the Georgia World Congress Center and Bethune Elementary School. This installment is comprised of two exhibits; titled Art 4 Atlanta and Impressionism.

The Art 4 Atlanta exhibit highlights the creative interpretation of the City of Atlanta by second through fifth grade students.  Each student was asked to use watercolors as a medium to share what Atlanta means to them.  Sponsored by the NCAA Men’s Final Four Atlanta Local Organizing Committee and the Georgia World Congress Center, this exhibit showcases 20 pieces and serves as a lasting legacy to the 2007 Men’s Final Four Tournament.

The Impressionism exhibit showcases the talent of Bethune’s student’s use of acrylics on canvas.  The students drew inspiration by studying Claude Monet, a French painter known for his use of lighting and color.  The exhibit displays 12 pieces highlighting the talented youth in our community.
