(Atlanta, GA – October 1, 2007) Centennial Olympic Park brought home the gold at the International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA) 52nd Annual Convention and Expo. The Park won three prestigious Pinnacle Awards - gold for Best Organizational Web site, gold for Best Miscellaneous Multimedia and bronze for Best E-Newsletter.
The Park’s Web site has been redesigned to show the beauty of the Park and to give web users the overall feeling of having seen the Park if they were unable to visit in person. The web design ensures intuitive navigation and accessibility to common Park questions. The homepage focuses on upcoming events and any major Park news as well as providing a link to the new event gallery. Other than event news, the Web site provides two extensive maps identifying in detail points of interest as well as a comprehensive history and overview of the Park.
The Park submitted its screensaver program for the best miscellaneous multimedia entry. The screensavers are customized with photos of a particular event and loaded onto a Park logoed USB as a gift for the client. This provides the event organizer the opportunity to see their event from an attendee’s perspective. The photos, taken by Park staff, best represent the event, including crowd shots, patrons, attendee interaction with client, event signage and special guests.
The E-Fountain Pen is the name of the Park’s monthly e-newsletter. Created in-house, the copy and photographs are provided by Park staff. Over 6,000 people have registered for the E-Fountain Pen to receive the latest news, upcoming events, new services or volunteer opportunities at the Park. The distribution list continues to grow as patrons are encouraged to register through the Web site and email signatures of Park staff.
The Park works hard in all three award categories to set industry standards and is flattered to be recognized in each category. The professional competition drew over 1,500 entries this year. The Park was competing against more than 100 top national and international festivals, such as the Macon Cherry Blossom Festival, Kentucky Derby, International Festival Lent in Slovenia, Rotterdam Festival in the Netherlands and South Korea’s Boryeong Mud Festival. “The level of competition makes it a real honor to receive these awards. The Park continues to strive for excellence and to serve as an award-winning destination,” said Mark Banta, general manager of Centennial Olympic Park.
Each year, IFEA recognizes outstanding examples of quality and creativity in the promotional programs and materials produced by member festivals and events from all over the world. Award winners show exceptional contribution to their communities as well as the industry. “The IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Awards represents the hallmark of excellence in the festivals and events industry. Entries in every budget category, from every corner of the globe, allow us to recognize the best in our business while raising the standards and quality of media promotions and events across the board,” said IFEA president and CEO, Steven Wood Schmader.
