Take MARTA To Avoid Busy Downtown Activity

ATLANTA (August 18, 2004) This Friday, Aug. 20 is going to be a busy day in and around the Georgia World Congress Center. With a record-breaking season-opener crowd expected at the Georgia Dome and thousands of music lovers expected to attend the On the Bricks finale at Centennial Olympic Park, traffic – both vehicular and pedestrian – is expected to be heavy. Both events are slated for Friday evening and we are encouraging football and music fans to take MARTA.

The Falcons face the Minnesota Vikings at 7:30 p.m. in the preseason opener. Gates open at 6 p.m. Falcon’s Landing, providing interactive games, food and drinks, opens at 4:30 p.m. on International Plaza. Even if you don’t have tickets to the game, you can still enjoy the fun at Falcons Landing!

For the music lovers, Centennial Olympic Park gates open at 5:30 p.m. for the final Aquafina On the Bricks of the season. A large audience is expected for headline act Blondie and 80s new wave band the Psychedelic Furs. Tickets cost $5 for entry to the Park. Remember, pack lightly and leave the large bags, video cameras and coolers at home.
Both events are MARTA accessible at two stations. For access to the Georgia Dome, use the Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN Center Station (W-1) or the Vine City Station (W-2). Both stations are footsteps away from the entrances to the Georgia Dome. Centennial Olympic Park is accessible from the Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN Center Station (W-1) or the Peachtree Center Station (N-1).
