ATLANTA (September 14,
2004) - This weekend, the Georgia World
Congress Center campus will host a variety of
events, creating a lot of hustle and bustle in
downtown Atlanta. From the first home Falcons
game of the regular season to the 13th annual
For Sisters Only at the GWCC, the GWCCA campus
is gearing up for a weekend full of activity and
excitement.
The Atlanta Falcons face off with the St. Louis
Rams on Sunday, Sept. 19 at 1 p.m. Gates to the
Georgia Dome swing open at 11:30 a.m. Fans are
encouraged to arrive early and take advantage
of the full NFL experience. Falcons Landing features
a free tailgate party full of fun including live
performances and interactive football games. The
fun opens to the public at 10 a.m. on International
Plaza, located next to the Georgia Dome.
Now in it’s 13th year, For Sisters Only
(FSO) is a two-day marketing event that has attracted
more than 250,000 African American shoppers over
the years. FSO takes over the Georgia World Congress
Center in Building C on Saturday, Sept. 18 from
11 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 19 from
10 a.m. – 6 p.m. The popular event features
a large trade show where over 300 exhibitors come
to sell, display and sample their products to
the public. In addition to the shopping, FSO brings
the best of celebrity entertainment, cultural
enrichment, informational seminars and family
fun every year.
The Georgia World Congress Center welcomes back
the Georgia Music Hall of Fame Awards on Saturday,
Sept. 18. This televised event honors Georgia
musicians who contribute to the music industry
their vocal and musical talents. This year’s
inductees include Chuck Leavell, Mattiwilda Dobbs,
Mary Lou Williams and Hugh Jarrett. For ticket

Heavy traffic is expected in and around downtown
this weekend due to the number of events ongoing.
Parking, especially on game day, will be limited
due to the volume of people drawn to these events.
Attendees are encouraged to take MARTA to arrive
safely and quickly to their destination. The Georgia
World Congress Center and the Georgia Dome can
be accessed by the GWCC/DOME/ Philips/CNN station
or the Vine City Station.
