| Georgia World Congress Center Campus Jumps
Into Autumn with Variety of Weekend Activities |
ATLANTA (September 14, 2004)
-This weekend, the Georgia World Congress Center,
the Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Park will
host a variety of events, creating a lot of excitement
in downtown Atlanta. From Ghana Expo to the Atlanta
Football Classic to the final Fourth Saturday Family
Fun Day, the GWCCA is gearing up for a weekend full
of activity.
The Bank of America Atlanta Football Classic is
the Super Bowl of Black College Football. The event
puts Florida A&M and Tennessee State University
on the Dome field in a much anticipated game on
Saturday, Sept. 25. Gates open at 1:30 p.m. and
kick off is at 3 p.m. A variety of events associated
with the Atlanta Football Classic will take place
on campus throughout the day. From the Georgia Power
Parade of Excellence to the State Farm Career Fair,
this event is expected to draw large crowds downtown.
Additionally, Coca Cola USA Football Town will be
open to the public on International Plaza both Saturday
and Sunday leading up to the Falcons second home
game of the season.
At the Georgia World Congress Center, the Ghana
Expo will serve as a powerful and unique platform
for businesses and consumers wishing to explore
the full range of opportunities for Ghanaian and
American product and service providers to learn
about trade and investment opportunities in Ghana.
This event features seminars, workshops and a look
at the culture of this West African country.
For family fun, children of all ages are expected
at the Fourth Saturday Family Fun Day at Centennial
Olympic Park. Families will enjoy learning about
“Our Many Cultures.” Arts and crafts,
performances and a chance to learn about cultures
from around the world are provided free to all who
head to the park on Saturday. This will be the last
Fourth Saturday Family Fun Day of the year, and
what better way to end the season than with a finale
led by the popular Soweto Street Beat with twenty
drummers from South Africa and all of the participating
dance groups of the day.
The Atlanta Falcons face off with the Arizona Cardinals
on Sunday, Sept. 26 at 1 p.m. Gates to the Georgia
Dome swing open at 11:30 a.m. Fans are encouraged
to arrive early and take advantage of the full NFL
experience. Coca Cola USA Football Town features
a free tailgate party full of fun including live
performances and interactive football games. The
fun opens to the public at 10 a.m. on International
Plaza, located next to the Georgia Dome.
World Of Weddings (WOW) Expo is the first bridal
show of its kind to celebrate the nations. From
florists and caterers to videographers and photographers,
this event offers a representation of the many nations,
cultures and ethnic groups of the world. The World
of Weddings Expo takes place Sunday, Sept. 26 from
11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door
and $5 for children under 12.
Heavy traffic is expected in and around downtown
this weekend due to the number of events ongoing.
Attendees are encouraged to take MARTA to arrive
safely and quickly to their destination. The Georgia
World Congress Center and the Georgia Dome can be
accessed by the GWCC/DOME/ Philips/CNN station or
the Vine City Station. For access to Centennial
Olympic Park, use the GWCC/DOME/Philips/CNN station
or the Peachtree Center station. |
