GWCC Unveils Art Project in Building C

(ATLANTA – October 7, 2004) Walking through the Georgia World Congress Center, you’ll gaze at its modern design and awe-inspiring architecture. Now, a new art project in the Congress Center’s Building C unveils even more to look at in the convention center.

Twelve oversize stretch canvases, some as large as 30-feet wide, are spread throughout Building C featuring architectural photographs of the Georgia World Congress Center campus, which includes the Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Park. These photos bring color to the Congress Center while highlighting our unique campus. They also serve as directional landmarks while traveling through the facility.
A major portion of the art project in Building C is the Bethune Gallery, located on an alcove of level C3 overlooking Bethune Elementary School. The gallery of 20-framed photographs signifies a unique partnership between the Georgia World Congress Center and its surrounding community.

Last spring, the entire fourth grade class was invited to the GWCC, where they each received a camera, a few tips on photography and a first look at the future home of the Bethune Gallery. Over 800 photos were then taken and a committee selected the 20 winning photos currently on display.

“We are excited to partner with the students and administration of Bethune Elementary School. This gallery is the first installment in a long-term partnership and we look forward to displaying new art projects each year with our friendly neighbors at Bethune Elementary,” stated Dan Graveline, Executive Director of the GWCC.
