ATLANTA - Stephen R. Leeds, a senior partner of Rogers & Hardin LLP, will become chairman of the board at the Jan. 30 meeting of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA). He succeeds Robert S. Prather, president and CEO of Bull Run Corp.
A member of the Authority since April 1998, Mr. Leeds is secretary of the Democratic Party of Georgia; campaign chairman and honorary chief of staff for U.S. Sen. Max Cleland; and a member of the board of trustees of the Georgia Research Alliance. He has served on the construction committee for the Phase IV Expansion of the Congress Center.
Mr. Leeds, 55, earned an undergraduate degree at Michigan State University and a law degree at the University of Michigan. A native of Stamford, Conn., he moved to Atlanta in 1971. His personal practice at Rogers & Hardin is commercial real estate and finance.
Mr. Leeds and his wife, Temme Barkin-Leeds, have twin sons, two married stepsons, a married stepdaughter and three grandchildren.
Also taking office at the January meeting will be vice chairman Bill Archer, executive vice president of Georgia Power Co.; secretary Howard J. Spiller, president and CEO of Urban Resources; and treasurer C. Jere Sechler, Jr., chairman and CEO of Eagle Bancshares Inc.
The Georgia World Congress Center Authority is the governing body of the Georgia World Congress Center, Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Park.
