]ATLANTA (July 25, 2002) - Atlanta (July 25, 2002) - As host to some of the country's most technologically advanced computer shows, the Georgia World Congress Center has long been a leader in providing high-tech solutions for customers. Two years ago, the GWCC opened its Cyber Center - a free Internet café for show attendees. The café allows busy businessmen and women an opportunity to check email and access the Internet in the main concourse of the facility.
This month, the GWCC unveiled its Wireless High-Speed Internet Access. The service is available to anyone with a high-speed wireless LAN access card for their laptop or PDA. The service, launched during SUPERCOMM 2002, allows quick access to the Internet from select common areas of the Georgia World Congress Center.
"The response was great," said Steve Weeman, manager of Convention Center Long Distance (CCLD), the company that handles the Internet technology needs of the convention center and its customers. "We understand the value quick access to the Internet and this service provides that access on demand."
Users can access select Web sites at no cost and can have complete Internet access for a small fee, signing up online. Wireless "hotspots" are located in the Building B Ballroom, throughout the Building B entrance concourse and in Building A common areas. "Response was so positive that we will be expanding our 'hotspots' to include all common areas, including the new Building C," said Weeman.
