Georgia World Congress Center Authority Hosts Numerous Activities for 2001 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl

ATLANTA (Dec. 28) - The Georgia Dome celebrates New Year's Eve with thousands of football fans attending the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl - featuring the Auburn Tigers and the North Carolina Tar Heels in the ACC vs. SEC showdown. Plenty of activities are planned for both the Georgia World Congress Center and Centennial Olympic Park in anticipation of the 7:30 p.m. bowl game kick-off.

    The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Parade starts at 1:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve. This year's parade incorporates patriotism, football and the beginning of a New Year. Firefighters, police officers and military personnel will participate in the parade as the Peach Bowl celebrates America's Team Spirit. The parade steps off at West Peachtree and Peachtree streets and proceeds along Peachtree Street to International Boulevard, ending at Centennial Olympic Park.     After the parade, fans will want to head over to the Georgia World Congress Center for Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl FanFest presented by Coca-Cola. This pre-game festival takes place is from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and includes an indoor pep rally featuring cheerleaders, mascots and bands from both Auburn and North Carolina.     The 34th annual Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl kicks off at 7:30p.m. at the Georgia Dome. Both Auburn and North Carolina enter the game with seven wins and a 5-3 conference record setting up what could be another close game in the Bowl's history. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.

    Fans are reminded to leave a little early for the festivities and encouraged to take Marta, which will extend train operations until 2 a.m. to ensure New Year's event revelers, and Peach Bowl fans, will have a safe way back home and to area hotels. Security is a top priority at the Georgia Dome. Please remember that knapsacks, backpacks and large bags are not permitted in the Georgia Dome. While video cameras are permitted for this event, large camera bags are not. All small bags and purses are subject to inspection.
