Georgia World Congress Center Authority Gears up for Weekend of Boats, Trucks, Gifts & More

ATLANTA (January 08, 2002) - This weekend, the Georgia World Congress Center, the Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Park will host a variety of events, creating a lot of hustle and bustle in the downtown convention corridor. From the all-new 2003 Atlanta Boat Show to Monster Jam, the GWCCA is gearing up for a weekend full of excitement.

The 2003 Atlanta Boat Show features the largest display of boats in the region. The event, held in Building C of the Georgia World Congress Center (entrance located on Northside Drive), will be packed with a wide variety of boats and other marine products and services on Jan. 10 (11a.m. - 10p.m.), Jan. 11 (10a.m. - 10p.m.) and Jan. 12 (11a.m. - 6p.m.). Parking for this event is available in the Blue Lot, located across Northside Drive from the convention center, or at the Yellow Lot, located on the corner of Northside Drive and Simpson Street.

The Georgia World Congress Center is also hosting the Gift Fair in Atlanta in Halls B1-B3 on Jan. 10 - 13, from 8a.m. - 5p.m. This event features an eclectic range of gifts including stationery, collectibles, souvenirs, trend, specialty and gourmet foods and others. Parking for this event is available in the International Deck (located off Centennial Olympic Park Drive) or several other surface lots surrounding the Georgia World Congress Center.

The Georgia Dome hosts Clear Channel's "Superbowl of Motorsports," Monster Jam on Jan. 11. Gates open at 5:30p.m. and the fun begins at 7:30p.m. for this spectacular viewing of hot rod monster trucks, quad wars and pro stadium trucks. Tickets are still on sale for this event and can be purchased at the Georgia Dome Box Office. Parking is available in the International Deck (located off Centennial Olympic Park Drive) or several other surface parking lots surrounding the Georgia Dome.

For those looking for fun on the ice, Centennial Olympic Park has extended the hours of the ice skating rink to include weekends throughout the month of January. The rink will be open on Jan. 10 (5p.m. - 11p.m.), Jan. 11 (10a.m. - 11p.m.) and Jan. 12 (12p.m. - 10p.m.). For more information on the ice skating rink, call 404.222. PARK.

Heavy traffic is expected in and around downtown this weekend due to the number of events ongoing. Attendees are encouraged to take MARTA to arrive safely and quickly to their destination. To access the Georgia World Congress Center Building C (Boat Show) and the Georgia Dome (Monster Jam), use the Vine City station. For access to the Georgia World Congress Center (Gift Fair in Atlanta), the Georgia Dome (alternate station) and Centennial Olympic Park, use the GWCC/DOME/Philips/CNN station.
