Spring with Variety of Weekend Activities

ATLANTA (April 16, 2003) - The 2003 Atlanta Home Show is Atlanta's premier event celebrating home building, home improvement and decorating. The annual event features some of the biggest names in the business and offers you a unique opportunity to learn home improvement tips, find out about new products and services and spend the day downtown with your family. The Atlanta Home Show, held in Building C of the Georgia World Congress Center (entrance on Northside Drive), takes place Friday, April 25 (noon to 9 p.m.), Saturday, April 26 (noon to 9 p.m.) and Sunday, April 27 (1 p.m. to 6 p.m.). Parking for this event is available in the Blue Lot, located across Northside Drive from the convention center, or at the Yellow Lot, located on the corner of Northside Drive and Simpson Street. The Georgia Dome hosts the National Divine 9 Step Show on Saturday, April 26. The event features nine renowned African American fraternities and sororities from across the country showcasing their step skills as well as performances by Lil' Kim, Baby of Cash Money, Nivea and R & B Recording Artist Goapele. Gates open at 3p.m. and the show begins at 4p.m. Parking is available in the Red Deck (formerly International Deck), Orange Lot, Silver Lot, Blue Lot and Yellow Lot. >>>Click here for additional information.

A number of activities will take place at Centennial Olympic Park this weekend, making it an ideal place to take the entire family. The 33rd annual March of Dimes WalkAmerica fundraiser will take place Saturday, April 26. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the 5.5-mile trek kicks off in Centennial Olympic Park at 9 a.m. From noon to 4p.m., the popular Fourth Saturday Family Fun Day returns with a mini-festival themed "All About Art." There you will find street performers, demonstrations, interactive crafts and musical performances the whole family will enjoy. On Sunday, April 27, be a witness as 140 of the best American and international cyclists including national champions, Olympians and Tour de France riders make their way to the Park for the grand finale of the six-day Dodge Tour de Georgia race. The final stage of the race will begin at noon and end at 5 p.m. Scheduled activities include a healthy lifestyle expo and players from the Atlanta Beat will also be on hand to meet and take pictures with fans and sign autographs. >>>Click here for additional information.

Heavy traffic is expected in and around downtown this weekend due to the number of events ongoing. Portions of Centennial Olympic Park Drive will be closed Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27. Attendees are encouraged to take MARTA to arrive safely and quickly to their destination. The Georgia World Congress Center and the Georgia Dome can be accessed by the GWCC/DOME/ Philips/CNN station or the Vine City Station. For access to Centennial Olympic Park, use the GWCC/DOME/Philips/CNN station or the Peachtree Center station.
