Multiple Events on GWCCA Campus Bring Summer
Activity to Downtown Convention Corridor

ATLANTA (August 6, 2003) - This weekend, the Georgia World Congress Center, the Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Park host a variety of events, bringing tens of thousands of people to downtown Atlanta. From Friday night's On the Bricks concert to Saturday night's pre-season Falcons game, the area will be busy with much-appreciated activity.

Aquafina's On the Bricks concerts have been popular all summer long and Friday, Aug. 8 will be no exception. This week, the $3 concert at Centennial Olympic Park will feature well-known acts including Hootie & the Blowfish, Tonic, Liz Phair, the Clarks and Bain Mattox. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the first act begins at 6 p.m.

The Georgia World Congress Center hosts the Bronner Brothers Atlanta Hair Show Saturday, Aug. 9 - Monday, Aug. 11 in Buildings A and B. This event features a comedy show, a fashion show, a hair battle, church service, seminars, forums and development classes. In addition, the A1-A2 exhibit halls will contain hair and beauty exhibits from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each show day. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at http://www.bronnerbros.com/.

After two weeks of practice sessions, the Atlanta Falcons are set to open the 2003 pre-season when they host the Green Bay Packers Saturday, Aug. 9 at the Georgia Dome. The last time the Falcons and the Packers met, the Falcons became the first team ever to defeat the Packers in the postseason at Lambeau Field with a 27-7 win, helping the Falcons advance to the second round of the NFC playoffs. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. for the 8 p.m. kickoff. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to avoid traffic and parking delays. ***

Leading up to kick-off, Falcons Landing will take place on International Plaza (atop the International Parking Deck) on Saturday, Aug. 9 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Falcons Landing is a pep rally like no other offering fans live music, autographs, interactive games and children's activities. ***

Heavy traffic is expected in and around downtown this weekend due to the number of events taking place. Attendees are encouraged to take MARTA to arrive safely and quickly to their destination. To access the Georgia World Congress Center, the Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Park, use the GWCC/DOME/Philips/CNN station. Additionally, the Georgia Dome can be easily accessed on game day on the Vine City Station.
